Ancient whale turns up on wrong side of the world
The rarely seen pygmy right whale may once have cruised northern waters

WHALE WATCH Today, pygmy right whales live in the Southern Hemisphere (the range highlighted in blue). But two new fossils (red squares show where they were found) suggest that the species lived for a time in the Northern Hemisphere.
