Cuckoos may have a long-lasting impact on other birds

The egg of this common cuckoo chick was laid in the nest of a tree pipit — an example of brood parasitism. To prevent such intruders, some birds reject eggs laid in their nests. And this behavior can persist even long after the parasite species has gone, a new study finds.
