Travel and other restrictions reduced daily carbon dioxide releases to 2006 levels by April

Normally jam-packed freeways, like this one leading into Los Angeles, have all but emptied due to stay-at-home orders to fight the coronavirus’ spread. That has contributed to a large drop in carbon dioxide emissions and clearer air in some cities.
